Hey! I’m Zoe, a communications student from New Zealand.

I’m in my final year of a communications degree, majoring in Creative Industries & Journalism. I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing once I graduate but I’m pretty sure it’ll involve travelling or sewing.

When I’m not travelling or sewing, I love watching 90s & 2000s tv, baking, reading, hiking or just being outside!

Why Planes?

Living in New Zealand, so far from everywhere, I’ve spent a lot of time on lengthy plane rides – hence the planes.

Ever since I was little, I was always interested in the world but never thought travelling extensively (aside from the overseas family holidays I was used to) was something I’d get to do. Well, that all changed when I went on a partial solo 5 week trip to Europe in the summer break between my first and second years of university. That trip changed me for the better and now I’m determined to see as much of the world as possible. It’s funny, I would see all the backpackers in the city (NZ is kinda a backpacking mecca) and wonder about them – but now that’s me!

Why Seams?

I’ve been sewing since I was 14 so I’ve sewn a lot of seams in my time. It’s a bit of a creative outlet for me and I like that it lessens my contribution to fast fashion. Also, it gives me an excuse to wander around fabric shops fingering all the fabric, so it’s a win-win!

Why Blog?

For me, blogging is a memento of my travels and sewing projects. I’m also a big nerd who likes coding & graphic design and blogging lets me do both.

    1. Thank you so much! I found your blog through the Travelettes facebook group. I’m hoping to spend a few months travelling South America after uni so your posts will come in handy. You’ve been to so many of the places I’m hoping to visit 🙂

      1. That’s a fantastic goal! All of those countries are amazing and have so much to offer. I will be excited for when you get going. Let me know if you have any questions or want tips about specific places when you start planning!

  1. I’m hoping to go for 3-6 months at this stage! I’m most keen for Argentina, Chile, Bolivia & Uruguay. It’s still a year and a bit away but that’s my goal 🙂
